[Morning after the nightmare post]

Uhm... Watanuki-sama? Is... there a doctor we can take Nadeko-chan to? She's got a fever...

[please don't ask how I figured this out right after waking up please please please]

[He stops, looking over his shoulder at Watanuki, most of his face obscured by the hood. He doesn't say anything, but he does nod in understanding before continuing to walk away.]

[Gets back to the room fairly quickly and slips his coat on before doing anything else.]

[Doumeki looks up curiously. The doctor is gone and Nadeko is asleep again.]

They're running tests. What's wrong?

Nothing...he just said he needed some air. And now I feel like a popsicle.

[Doumeki walks over and gives Watanuki a tight hug. He's probably not going to warm him up much more than the jacket, but he's trying to help.]

[Snuggles against Doumeki, glad for whatever extra warmth he can get.]

Did you talk to Kazuma-kun or did you two just sit there glaring at each other?

I talked to him. I was even polite...his birthday is coming up on the 19th.

Oh, that's when it is... we should get him something.

He doesn't know what kind of cake he wants.

[Thinks about it for a minute...]

Maybe I'll just make smaller ones...and make a lot of different kinds. Then everyone can have what they like.

What about gifts?

...I haven't gotten that far.

[Meaning 'I have no idea what to get a 13 year old computer geek.']

He likes hoodies, I noticed.

[Oh, that's what you call that ratty sweatshirt he refuses to take off.]

Does the doctor have any idea what might be wrong with Nadeko-chan?

Probably just the flu.

...but right after what happened? We found her pretty quickly and took her home...

We don't know for sure that has anything to do with it.

I know...it just seems like too much of a coincidence. I'm probably wrong but...

[Shakes his head slowly and closes his eyes, leaning against Doumeki.]

I just want Nadeko-chan to be okay.

She will be.

[Doumeki runs his fingers through his hair quietly, until the doctor returns.]

I didn't find anything abnormal in her bloodwork. Its likely that she just has the flu and her fever has spiked. I've got some medication for you to take home and give to her. She needs rest, and plenty of fluids. If she's not showing improvement in about four days, come back and see me.

Okay...should she stay here for a while, or is it okay to take her home?

If its alright, I'd like to keep her overnight to get some fluids in her. Not eating and probably not drinking that much in her condition has only made things worse, and she won't recover otherwise. She can be released tomorrow afternoon.

... alright. Do you want to stay with here? I can take Kazuma-kun home.
